These mandatory inspections are outlined by Australian Standards AS 4685 and are required for all playground operators.

DAILY OR WEEKLY
A daily or weekly visual check done by playground operators or staff. Identifies obvious hazards such as vandalism, broken parts, or litter to ensure immediate safety.

OPERATIONAL
CONDUCTED QUARTERLY
Conducted quarterly with a documented checklist by a trained person. Checks the functional and structural condition of equipment and surfaces to identify maintenance needs.

COMPREHENSIVE
ANNUALLY (MINIMUM)
Minimum annually and potentially more depending on frequency of use. Must be completed by a qualified and experienced auditor to ensure conformity to AS 4685.
